Our mission
An hour long ride described by critics as “Hilarious,” “Witty,” “Romantic,” “Poignant,” and “Wonderfully entertaining, 2 Across is a charming romantic comedy about two strangers who meet on an early morning train. Janet is a rule-abiding psychologist; Josh is a laid-back ad man between jobs.
Over the course of this simple commute filled with wit, wordplay, and one very stubborn crossword puzzle, they discover how opposites might just attract.
Warm, funny, and full of heart, 2 Across is a delightful exploration of connection, second chances, and unexpected journeys.

The Cast
Andrea Koorey
JANET
After several years having been immersed in the world of Musical Theatre, this show marks a return for Andrea’s artistic journey back into the world of straight Theatre. Having previously been seen as Cinderella’s Stepmother for Ovation Theatre’s production of Into the Woods, This play brings a whole new creative challenge in terms of human connection, and storytelling through the power of spoken word alone.
Andrea has a strong foundation in vocal performance, and character work and has been involved in the Showbiz productions of Come from Away (Beverley Bass/ Annette – Principle Standby) Evita and Les Misérables (Ensemble) and Mamma Mia! and Wicked (backing vocals). Her North Canterbury Musical Society (NCMS) production credits include 42nd Street (Dorothy Brock), Annie (Grace Farrell), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Ensemble), Company (Amy) and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Christine Colgate).
Andrea has also performed with various vocal ensembles over the years including Atlas Voices, The Christchurch Symphonic Choir, The Christchurch Pops Choir and the Christchurch Cathedral Godley Scholars.
Andrea majored in Music and Drama at Waikato University, and gained her Masters of Music (Vocal Performance) through Canterbury University. She holds a Teacher of Singing Certificate Aotearoa (TOSCA) qualification, and a Performer’s Certificate in Singing from Trinity College in London.
Andrea teaches singing to students across a wide range of ages and abilities, specialising in classical voice and musical theatre, and she co-directs the Girls’ Choir Ōtautahi ensemble.
Scott Koorey
SCOTT
Scott has been involved with Christchurch theatre for the past 30 years, in a variety of roles both onstage and off, and he has worked with several groups around town including Dramasoc, Musoc, Elmwood Players, Top Dog Theatre, Repertory Theatre and The Court Theatre. This is his first time working with Ovation Theatre.
As an actor his roles have included Ophelia Thinks Harder (Horatio), The Pirates of Penzance (Frederick), Twelfth Night (Feste), Bouncers (Ralph), Around The World In 80 Days (Detective Fix) and Kvetch (Hal). While he has largely been on acting hiatus for the past decade to let his wife have a turn, he has continued to feature in the occasional short film, most notably as a regular participant in the annual 48HOURS filmmaking competition.
As a director Scott has helmed a number of productions, with Shakespeare being a particular favourite of his, such as The Tempest (Dramasoc, 2005) and The Merry Wives of Windsor (Repertory Theatre, 2019). He has also been a judge for the Sheila Winn Shakespeare Festival on four occasions, and loves to see the raw new talent that’s always bubbling up in the city. Other theatre hats he has worn over the years include writing original scripts, adapting existing scripts, and composing original music for theatre productions.
When not doing plays, Scott can sometimes be seen performing onstage with The Court Jesters, or as a celebrant standing up the front at weddings helping people get married. He was however not the celebrant for his co-star’s wedding, because he was much too busy at the time being the groom. Somehow this is the first time they’ve ever acted onstage together; hopefully it won’t be the last.
