At Ovation Theatre, we believe theatre is more than performance — it is a catalyst for leadership, empathy, and community transformation.
Rooted in the heart of Christchurch, we are committed to growing the next generation of theatre-makers: directors, producers, actors, and creatives who will shape the stories of tomorrow. Through hands-on training, mentorship, and collaborative creation, we empower emerging leaders to find their voice and take bold steps into the spotlight — on stage and behind the scenes.

Our model and inspiration
Ovation’s Artistic Director brings 25 years of professional training and experience in theatre projects of all types including years in Broadway productions working with “the best in the business.” We will use these practices to create a Christchurch-specific model that can sustain professional standards accessible to all.
Ovation’s goal is to evolve over time using this knowledge, offering more performances at affordable prices, and becoming a self-sustaining arts business model.
The future
Ovation’s forward-looking approach centres on developing a robust training program for creative and management positions in theatre.
We are dedicated to nurturing the talents of producers, directors, stage managers, actors and more, using techniques drawn directly from Broadway practices.
